3-Year Old Preschool - 929101

About the Early Childhood Center Preschool
The 2017-2018 School Year

It is the goal of the Early Childhood Center Preschool to provide a program for three and four-year-olds that is nurturing, allows children to grow through their natural instinct to explore, lays a solid foundation of self-confidence and prepares them for elementary school.

Our program, licensed by the Department of Children and Family Services, is based on the philosophy that children learn through play and experience. When given the opportunity, children will naturally explore, discover, learn to cooperate with others and develop strong self-esteem. Through a wide variety of experiences, children also develop their social, emotional and physical skills.

At the Early Childhood Center children are offered a chance to learn in a place where each individual meets with approval and success. Our teachers offer children a variety of small and large group activities. We do this because we believe it is important that every child have a positive learning experience. Utilizing the Creative Curriculum approach, endorsed by the National Association of Education of Young Children, each classroom conducts weekly studies, offering areas for blocks and dramatic play, small and large motor activities, quiet time as well as experiences with music, art, literacy and science/discovery.

While our Early Childhood Center staff offers each class an environment that gives children the opportunity to grow to their fullest potential, we also serve as a support system, helping to meet each individual family's needs.

The Early Childhood Center follows the Wilmette Public Schools District 39 calendar of full days off, as well as two Park District staff in-service days. Children must be 3-years-old by September 1, 2017 and toilet trained. Pull-Ups and diapers are not permitted.

The Early Childhood Center offers a unique five-morning program for older 3-year-olds to accommodate the rapid development of fine motor and cognitive skills within this age group. This is a multi-age class that combines the older 3-year-olds with 4-year-olds for a special classroom experience with many learning opportunities available to the children. Children must be 3-years-old by March 1, 2017 to enroll in this program.

A non-refundable deposit of $100 is required at registration. Fees are collected in nine equal payments, due on the 20th of each month, with the first payment collected on August 20, 2017. Please contact Olga Miklasz at 847-920-3910 for additional program information.

Our purpose is to provide a unique and multifaceted program designed to spark children's interest in a variety of activities such as art, music, movement, science and more.

Our program offers a variety of new experiences, both in the classroom and through numerous field trips to places such as the library, theaters, animal hospital, museums, local businesses and nature centers to name a few. Two-day and three-day participants will attend more than 50 field trips per year. Five-day participants attend an average of 70 field trips per year. Classes offer a balance of both structured and unstructured activities. Activity areas to choose from include blocks, quiet time, dramatic play, small and large motor activities as well as areas for music, art, literacy and science/discovery.

Two-Day Program: The two-day program spends a large portion of its time on a variety of field trips that give children hands-on experience both in Wilmette and surrounding communities.

Three/Five Day Programs: The three-day and five-day programs participate in many varied field trips, and also take part in special art activities, drama, gymnastics and cooking projects.

All Kindergarten Enrichment classes include a hot catered lunch, as required by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). Busing to or from Central, Harper and McKenzie schools is provided by the Wilmette Park District for a separate fee (see Kindergarten Enrichment Busing). Busing to or from Romona school is provided by Wilmette Public Schools District 39. Please contact their Transportation Department to arrange for your child’s transportation.

3-Year Old Preschool - 929201

The 2018-2019 School Year

Lessons are aligned with the Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards.

While our Early Childhood Center staff offers each class an environment that gives children the opportunity to grow to their fullest potential, we also serve as a support system, helping to meet each individual family's needs.
The Early Childhood Center follows the Wilmette Public Schools District 39 calendar of full days off, as well as one Park District staff in-service day. Children must be 3-years-old by September 1, 2018 and toilet trained. Pull-Ups and diapers are not permitted.

The Early Childhood Center also offers a unique five-morning preschool program for older 3-year-olds to accommodate the rapid development of fine motor and cognitive skills within this age group. This multi-age class combines older 3-year-olds with 4-year-olds for an enriching classroom experience. Children must be 3-years-old by March 1, 2018 to enroll in this program.

A deposit of $100 is required at registration and is non-refundable after February 1, 2018. Fees are paid in nine equal payments, due on the 20th of each month, with the first payment due by August 20, 2018. Please contact Olga Miklasz at 847-920-3910 for additional program information.
