Storm Girls Travel & New Trier Feeder Basketball - 127084

If you enjoy the competition of travel basketball and love the game, now is your chance to put your skills to the test! Storm Basketball and New Trier Feeder Basketball are working together to promote and support competitive basketball teams, enhance and improve players’ skills, and foster a positive environment of sportsmanship and teamwork. These co-sponsored teams will allow girls to play for their community while still being a part of the New Trier Feeder program. Tryouts are held prior to the season and team selection is based on ability, attitude and desire. Teams practice twice per week. In addition to the team fee, players pay a $150 gear fee. The season runs October-March. Once payment is received to reserve your spot on the team, no refunds will be issued. To reserve a tryout spot, participants must register (at no cost).

Strum 'N' Sports - 327012

Pee Wee Track, Field & Fitness - 327013

This unique class combines stretching, movement, and other fitness concepts with running, jumping, throwing and other skills used in track and field. Boys and girls work on body coordination, agility, balance, and self-confidence as they participate in fitness games such as Simon Says and Red Light-Green Light. We include sprints, relays, hurdles, long jump, discus throw and other track and field events. Our fun approach inspires little athletes to love being active! We conclude with a fun-filled track and field meet on the last day of class.

Basketball Clinic 101 - 327022

101 is for boys and girls who want to develop their early basketball skills, such as shooting, dribbling and passing, and learn the rules of the game. In 201, older players begin to develop more advanced skills such as various guard/post techniques, setting screens, moving without the ball, and offensive spacing. Defensive instruction includes man-to-man, denying the ball, help-line and boxing out. Players spend time developing their shot, using proper mechanics to be effective further from the basket. We play scrimmages every week. All classes meet at Central School EXCEPT the Wednesday boys class which meets at McKenzie School.

Dodgeball League - 327033

Play this popular game in a safe and supervised environment. We use super-soft balls, and safety is stressed during game play. Each week, players learn new variations of the game, keeping class fresh and the kids having fun. Time limits are placed on all games, so participants do not sit out too long and remain active throughout the class. During the first week, we have practice play and evaluations to select balanced teams. The season concludes with playoffs; winners take home a medal. Each participant receives a team T-shirt. Wednesdays class meets at McKenzie School and Thursdays class meets at Central School.

Non Contact Football Level 2 - 327035

Time to take your game to the next level! During this 6-week football skill development clinic, participants will build position-specific skills and gain special insight and instruction from experts who have played at the highest levels and have deep knowledge of the game. The clinic is lead by Chris Martin, a former Chicago Bear and Northwestern Wildcat All-American. Class is structured like a college football practice by focusing on non-contact group drills, 1-on-1 drills and 7-on-7 games. We also concentrate on core values such as leadership, teamwork, detail and discipline–all in a fun, energetic and encouraging environment. Monday classes meet at the Community Recreation Center and Wednesday classes meet at Harper School.

Young Tigers Tae Kwon Do - 327036

Basic techniques of Taekwondo, combined with deep breathing exercises, help children develop proper posture, concentration, and coordination. Practice of proper manners helps to develop courtesy, self-esteem and self-control. Class is taught in a relaxed and fun environment. Students should wear a martial arts uniform during class (white Taekwondo uniform-dobock, which can be ordered at the class). The class instructor, Grand Master Kim, has more than 50 years of martial arts training and has been teaching students at the Wilmette Park District for 18 years. Youth/Adult Karate - 327037

ISKC’s karate classes help develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules. Uniforms and Belt-Testing are options available through the ISKC instructor. Please note that the Youth, Parent/Child and Adult classes may train together. Beginner students will not be permitted to register into the current session after the second class has met.

This class is for beginning adults who want to learn traditional Taekwondo for self-defense, health, physical fitness, and stress release. The main emphasis in this class will be practicing basic blocks, punches, kicks, stretches, and deep breathing. Instructor Grandmaster Kim has more than 50 years of martial arts training. Beginner Pickleball For Seniors - 327101

Pickleball, a game that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, is sweeping the country! Pickleball players use wooden paddles and Whiffle balls to play on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. This class is for those who are new to the game, or who have very limited experience. We focus on pickleball basics, such as forehand and backhand shots, serving and court positioning. Players also learn scoring and the rules of Pickleball through drills and playing time. Children are introduced to a variety of sports including basketball, floor hockey, football, kickball, soccer, t-ball and other sports and group games. The goal is to provide the opportunity for each child to develop motor skills and nurture his/her growth socially through teamwork and good sportsmanship. Children must bring a peanut free lunch and will eat with the coaches, then play sports in the gym. For kids who attend an Early Childhood Center program, a Hot Shots Sports staff person will pick your child up in his/her room and bring them to Community Recreation Center room 128 for lunch, and then to the gym for play.
