Strum 'N' Sports - 427012

On Mondays, spend either 60 minutes playing sports such as soccer, basketball, football and more, or 60 minutes learning the basics of archery. On Wednesdays, spend 45 minutes learning basketball and then 45 minutes learning to play the guitar by learning chords, scales, rhythm, tuning...and maybe even master a song! Basketball Clinic 101 - 427022

Basketball Clinic 201 - 427023

Players begin to develop more advanced skills such as various guard/post techniques, setting screens, moving without the ball, and offensive spacing. Defensive instruction includes man-to-man, denying the ball, help-line and boxing out. Players spend time developing their shot using proper mechanics to be effective further from the basket. Scrimmages are played every week. The Wednesday boys and Saturday boys/girls classes meet at McKenzie School. The Monday boys and Tuesday and Wednesday girls classes all meet at Central School.

Game Time Basketball - 427025

One of the best ways to develop your basketball skills is through game play, and in Game Time you do just that. Each week, basketball players are challenged through various games including 1-on-1, 3-on-3, and 5-on-5. Coaches referee and guide the class to enhance the players understanding of the game. Dodgeball League - 427033

This league provides participants with an opportunity to play the popular game in a safe and supervised environment. The program uses super soft balls and safety is stressed during game play. Each week players learn new variations of the game, keeping class fresh and the kids having fun. Time limits are placed on all games so participants do not sit out too long and remain active throughout the class. The first week will be practice play and evaluations to select balanced teams. The season will conclude with playoffs, winners taking home a medal. Each participant will receive a team t-shirt. This program will meet at McKenzie School on Wednesday's and Central School on Thursday's.

Eagles Non-Contact Football - 427034

This high energy non-contact football clinic teaches the fundamentals of the sport, including passing, receiving, blocking, routes and more. Young Tigers Tae Kwon Do - 427036

Basic techniques of Taekwondo, combined with deep breathing exercises, help children develop proper posture, concentration, and coordination. Practice of proper manners helps to develop courtesy, self-esteem and self-control. Class is taught in a relaxed and fun environment. Students should wear a martial arts uniform during class (white Taekwondo uniform-dobock, which can be ordered at the class). The class instructor, Grand Master Kim, has more than 50 years of martial arts training and has been teaching students at the Wilmette Park District for 18 years. ISKC’s karate classes help develop flexibility, strength and coordination in fun, yet disciplined activities. This program offers a good mix of strength training, with cardiovascular and flexibility exercises. Students increase their coordination, agility and poise, as well as learn lasting personal safety skills. They also benefit from the mental stimulation of learning the choreographed moves of the kata and the discipline of conforming to the class rules. This program features weekly practices
 on Thursdays and games on Saturdays. Participants learn the basics of softball in a fun environment that allows them to develop skills on practice days and implement them on game days. The season starts off with a clinic for players. Practices will
 be scheduled on Thursdays and the staff of Hot Shots Sports will be available to assist volunteer coaches and their teams during their designated practice time. Coaches pitch on game days with more emphasis placed on how to field, hit, run the bases, and the basic rules of the game. Teams will be formed based on school. An 11-inch “softie” softball will be used. Parents and friends interested in becoming volunteer coaches may call Hot Shots Sports at 773/685-6902. This program meets at Central School on Thursdays and Howard Park for games on Saturdays.

Evaluations for Grades 5-9: Thursday, April 5 (NOTE: Attendance required)
Season begins: Saturday, April 14
Games: Sat/Wed, 4/14-6/2

Girls play one or two games per week — on Saturday (between 8 a.m.-
6 p.m.) and/or Wednesday evening (between 5-10 p.m.). Please sign up for your current grade level. Once rosters are put together they are final. Practice days and times vary according to coaches’ schedules. The program depends on parents and friends to volunteer for coaching duties. Those interested may call Hot Shots Sports at 773-685-6902. All players will receive a team jersey and pants.

Grades 3-4 • Pony League
Sign-up deadline is March 30. The Pony League will form teams based on school attended. All players are encouraged to attend a players clinic on Thursday, April 5, 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Central Elementary School.

Grades 5-6 • Minor League

Sign-up deadline is March 30. All participants must attend evaluations. Teams will be put together based on player evaluation results, school and friendship requests. Storm Girls' Travel Sprg BBall - 427084

If you enjoy the competition of travel basketball and love the game now is your chance to put your skills to the test! Storm Basketball is designed to promote and support competitive basketball teams, enhance and improve players' skills, and foster a positive environment of sportsmanship and teamwork. Tryouts are held prior to the season and team selection is based on ability, attitude and desire. Teams will practice once per week. In addition to the team fee, all players will be required to pay a uniform and gear fee. The season runs April to early June. Once payment is received to reserve your spot on the team, no refunds will be issued. To reserve a tryout spot, participants must register at no cost through the Wilmette Park District. All tryouts will be held at Romona and Highcrest schools.

Taekwondo for Adults - 427085

This class is for beginning adults who want to learn traditional Taekwondo for self-defense, health, physical fitness, and stress release. The main emphasis in this class will be practicing basic blocks, punches, kicks, stretches, and deep breathing. Instructor Grandmaster Kim has more than 50 years of martial arts training. Instructors are affiliated with the Songmookwan Moogongryu OMAC system (www.OMACWorld.com). The class format follows a traditional Taekwondo class with an added consideration to developing healthy breathing habits. Taekwondo uniforms can be purchased in class. Youth Flag Football - 427098

The sport of flag football continues to grow in the North Shore area. This spring, have your child come out and play this rapidly growing variation of the sport of football. Teams will be formed by the amount of kids registered per grade. Ideally we will make teams for grade 4-5 combined and grade 6-8 combined however this can change due to registration amounts. Please register your child for their current grade. Each player will receive an NFL issued jersey. Each player must provide their own mouth guard and must have it for every game. This program depends on parents and friends to volunteer for coaching duties. Each team will practice once per week and all games will be on Sunday afternoons at Howard Park. Coaches will schedule week night practices with the Wilmette Park District. Practices will begin the week of April 15th, and the first games will be played Sunday, April 22. Each team will play at least 7 games. Teams will be formed based on school attended and the friend request. We limit friend requests to 1 friend per request and MUST be emailed to Jason Pilecki at jpilecki@wilpark.org to be honored. Any friend requests after April 10th will not be honored. All games will be played at Howard Park.

Registration: Will begin March 6 at 9:00am

Registration Deadline: Thursday, April 12 12:00pm (A wait list will be formed after this date and time)

Season: 4/16-6/10

Team practices begin: Week of April 15

Games Begin: Sunday April 22 (games will be in the afternoon)

Last game of season: Sunday June 10 (Playoffs and Championship)

No Games: Sunday, May 27

Hot Shots Lunch & Play - 427103

Children are introduced to a variety of sports including basketball, floor hockey, football, kickball, soccer, t-ball and other sports and group games. The goal is to provide the opportunity for each child to develop motor skills and nurture his/her growth socially through teamwork and good sportsmanship. Children must bring a peanut free lunch and will eat with the coaches, then play sports in the gym. For kids who attend an Early Childhood Center program, a Hot Shots Sports staff person will pick your child up in his/her room and bring them to Community Recreation Center room 128 for lunch, and then to the gym for play. Pick up is in the gym at 1pm.

Basketball Clinic 102 - 427104

The next step in basketball instruction, this class builds on the fundamentals taught in the Basketball 101 class. This slightly faster-paced environment is geared around competitive play, encouraging tactics such as attacking the basket and aggressive defense. Players should have knowledge of the rules and be able to dribble comfortably. The Tuesday class meets at Central School, the Friday class meets at McKenzie School, and the Sunday class meets at the Community Recreation Center.

Pickleball for Active Adults 55+ - 427112

Pickleball, a game that combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong, is sweeping the country! Pickleball players use wooden paddles and Whiffle balls to play on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. This class is for those who are new to the game, or who have very limited experience. We focus on pickleball basics, such as forehand and backhand shots, serving and court positioning. Players also learn scoring and the rules of Pickleball through drills and playing time. The slower pace of this class allows players the opportunity to develop the skills they need to play this fun and energetic game.
